These Little Things Chapter2 By: Fragraham Lincon "Seven years is a long time to be away. I wonder how she's changed." The Green clad teenager walked into Lon Lon ranch. It seemed so different from when he knew it as a child. The sky was grey in a perpetual overcast, the kind of overcast where it's neither sun nor rain, simply dreary and gray. Most notablythe sweet sound of Marin's voice was now absent. Now the only sounds were of horses clammering about. At the main gate stood a man clad in fine silks. "Hey you! Do you have any business here, if not leave!" He yelled at Link. Link squinted at him a moment trying to remember him...."Ingo?" "Yeah that's me. Ingo the great the exlusive ranch manager for the great Ganondorf. Now what do you want?" "I uhm...." "Stop mumblin' and make up yer mind." "I'm looking for someone named Marin." "Oh that lazy girl? what are you her boyfriend? Yeesh dating when she should be workin'. Lazy just like her father." Link's fist tightens. He half wants to strangle Ingo there and half wants to chop him in half. "She's in the barn. Say what ya gotta say and get out of here." Says Ingo. Link passes on mauling Ingo to find Marin. The barn door creeks a bit as he opens it. The lighting isn't very good but more than enough to see. Link spots a feminin figure working in the shadows whom stops and takes notice of his entrance. She turns around. Before link stands a beutiful young brunet of about his age. "Oh, who are you?" Link hesitates for a moment then cleares his throught before speaking. "Marain?" Is all he's able to say. "Oh? do I know you?" "Marin you may not remember me but I met with your father." "My father?" Marin's expression becomes more urgent. "How is he? Is he doing alright?" "You're father's fine. Some good people took him in. He's getting along well but he's worried about you." "I see. Tell him I'm alright. Mr. Ingo is treats me well." "Marin. That's not the way it looks to me. What happened here." "Everything is alright. You don't have to worry." It is by now becoming clear to Link that Marin doesn't want to discuss this. But he Made a promise to her father and he wasn't about to break it. "You don't look find Marin. I can tell. Would someone who's fine have such a sad look on her face? And if you were feeling so good then why aren't you singing? I know you always sing when you're happy." "What? How do you know that? I thought no one heard.... that is no I never sing. Mr.Ingo says it's disruptive so I don't sing anymore. Now please don't ask anything more." "MARIN! why won't you give me a clear answer. I'm trying to help." "I'm sorry. Whoever you are please don't ask me anything more. If Mr. Ingo finds out...." Link shakes his head and walks away. His own footsteps seem to thunder in his ears. Each thump seems to push his heart to the breaking point. He could never stand to see Marin sad. Link with head held down leaves the ranch. But inside him he also forges a new determination. He would set things right one way or another. Link proceeds back to Kakariko Villaige to find Tarin. Evening aproaches. Ingo walks into the barn. "Marin who was that?" "oh no one." "Well if it's nobody then tell him to pay for something or leave. Don't waste time on mindless chatter. Stupid girl just like your father always wasting time." "DON'T TALK ABOUT MY FATHER LIKE THAT!" "Don't talk back to me little wretch." Ingo rears his hand back and slaps Marin across the face. That night Link returns once again. He is determined to help Marin. As he passes the house he hears hears singing from the field. The voice is familliar. The song rings in his ears. It is familliar and welcome to him. He runs out to the middle of the field to find Marin standing in the moonlight and pouring her heart into a song. "Marin." Says Link stopping Marin's song. "Oh....You startled me. I was afraid I'd woken Mr. Ingo." "Nah just me." "Please don't tell Mr. Ingo about this okay." "It's alright. But why are you so afraid of him? I mean he's not that tough. I could take him." "You can't solve everything with your fists. Please don't get involved." Link walks closer to Marin and reaches toward her. Marin backs away. Link approaches again and pushes a lock of hair away from her face. Its hard to see by the moonlight alone but there is a clear bruise on Her face. Link clenches his fist. "Ingo did this didn't he." Link looks to the house. "I'm going to settle this right now." Marin grabs links arm. "NO DON'T! If you do it'll only make it worse." "but..." "Look Mr. Ingo may be hard on me but both I and the horses need him since my father isn't here anymore." "GRRRR! Marin I want to help you." "Sometimes there are things that just can't be helped." "Marin please..." "NO! You can't fix this with your muscles." "My...muscles.....wait what if I can find another way. If I can Make Ingo ASK for your father to come back." "you....you mean it? But Ingo...well mabey at one time but I don't think he'd do that now." "What would he do?" "Mr. Ingo is a gambler. he loves to make bets. If you coulduse that against him. But he's also a very skilled gambler." "I'll do it for you Marin." "Well if you do then. Good luck fairy boy." Marin gives Link a kiss on the cheek. Link turns and walks away not letting Marin see that he's blushing. The next day.(you know how it happened) "So you want to ride one of my horses?" link chooses epona. "How about a race" Ingo loses misserably. "AAAAGGGHHHH! one more race." Ingo loses even more misserably. Ingo lock link in, link jumps the fence yada yada yada. That night. Ingo is meeting with Ganondorf. "YOU WHAT!" "I lost the horse in a bet okay. Got a problem with that?" Says Ingo deffiantly. "YOU FOOL! You sicken me. Don't you understand that these little things that you live your life for I could so easilly take away. Do you WANT Tarin to find out about your little scheme." Says Ganondorf Threttingingly. "HA! Just try it." "What are you smiling about you bafoon?" "I already told him. IN fact....." Someone taps on Ganondorf's shoulder. Ganondorf turns around to see Tarin standing there. "GET OFF MY RANCH!" Says Tarin punching Ganondorf in the jaw. "You idiots. I am the king of hyrule. How dare you defy me." "You aren't the king. Just a thief who snuck in when someone forgot to lock the door." Says Ingo. Ganondorf makes a fist but before he can do anything an emblem resembling the triforce begins to glow on the back of his hand. "I'll come back for you later. I have more urgent business to attend to. But when I return rest assured what I have in mind will be far worse than you ever imagined." "Yeah whatever." Syas Ingo as Ganondorf vanishes in a cloud of smoke. Outside. Marin sits on the roof of the barn. Link walks up and sits next to her. "You did it. I didn't think you could." "I could never stand to see anything bad happen to you." "You say you care about me so much but....what's your name?" ---------------------end-----------------------------------------------
