Knights of Daybreak Chapter 9 By: W.Bob Yankovic Hmm, seems like or heros have a back up plan that was ready at a moments notice. In this fic you are introduced to Camelot, the new home base for the good DGF. The Ne'llaf begin to attack innocent dimentions. And more hints to who these weird people are and where they came from. I stood on a platform in front of every person in our renegade army. Behind me stood the rest of the Supreme Gaurdians, my wife, and Espy. We had successfully made it through with extremely light casualties. Now the hardest challenge that had ever faced the SG's was at hand. "Welcome to Camelot," I said adressing the crowd. "This is our new home. You will find that it has much of the same comforts as NCC. I hope that you find it acceptable. Now to get down to business. I have reason to believe that Brin is being paid off by our new friends. Thanks to some undercover work by Raven, we can shed some light on the Ne'llaf. Since the beginning of the Earth Alpha dimention and every subsequent one, the Ne'llaf have been in it. The people in Earth's past that have been looked upon as evil and ruthless monsters are infact Ne'llaf that were left behind when they sealed the portals to their dimention. They are the cause of most of the war that has ever gone on in Earth Alpha. They are extremely more technologically advanced than us. They fight better, and have more connections. In no way will this be an easy fight. If anyone wants to turn back now, go ahead. Go back to NCC with the evil and corruption. But if you choose to stay here you choose to fight on the side of good. To bring daybreak to this night of evil. To become a Knight of Daybreak. And to cleanse the DGF of all the impurities that plauge it now!" I said as the crowd erupted into cheers and war whoops. I smiled and turned the mic over to Mac. "I would also like to thank you for being here. I know how big of a decision that it was. Again welcome to Camelot. Now down to some less interesting stuff. Everyone will be assigned a roomate and a bunk. If the person you are with is not acceptable you will fill out a room change request. Do note that you can only do this once. You should all begin to make friends. We are gonna be doing alot of undercover work that will require a lot of trust. Picky and childish behavior will result in failure, and possibly death. As for eating, everyone will have the same schedule that you had back in NCC. We have tried our best to keep everything exactly as it was so we didn't have mass chaos. If you have any questions ask your commanding officer. As for the lack of leadership, we will be asking for applications for ranking officers. We will go through these with our disgression and choose who we deem fit for leadership. Everything else will be explained when you report to your unit meetings in two hours. Until then move your stuff in and meet your room mate. Enjoy," Mac said as he stepped down from the platform. The crowd of people began to make their ways to find their rooms. "Well I think that went fairly smoothly," Irvine said as he walked up to my side. "Yeah, if you ask me I think that the DGF are in a world of trouble. They are counting us out," Cratin said. He turned his back and moved his hands over his face. When he turned back around his face looked just like Brin's. "Please don't kill me! NOO!" he said in a little girl's voice. Everyone on the stage shared a laugh. "Ok everyone, here are the room assignments," I said passing them out. Of course Katrina and I were in a room together, Cratin and Sarhedrin shared one, Draco and Irvine were together, Shandra and Espy were together, and stubborn Mac was in a room by himself. He claimed that it would be "too much of a temptation" if he was in a room with Espy. I wanted to slap him and say that was why they should be in the same room but he remained in his stoic little state of mind. As everyone walked to their suites Hogo and Raven walked up beside Katrina and I. "Hey Shane, check this out," Hogo said waving a piece of paper. I had asked him to help out Raven with the background check. I took the paper from him and began to read it. It was a list much like the one that Raven gave me for Earth Alpha, but instead it had the names of criminals and fugitives from almost every dimention known. "You get what we are saying?" Hogo asked. I shook my head not fully understanding the significance of a list of thousands of names. Hogo hit his palm to his forehead and pointed over to Raven as if he was telling him to explain. "Those are the names of people who have been in contact with a strange source of power and money. This source can be traced back to a central body. This body is none other than a subsidary branch of a company called Brinteck. It seems that they cut it off when someone got nosy about it. They changed the name of it and passed it off as another company to itself. It seems that it is just a big bank account. Anyway those people are pretty much just a bunch of Brin lackeys. And since Brin is a Ne'llaf lacky, that makes these people like the fingers of the Ne'llaf. I think that it would be nice to watch these people," Raven said. "I see, good work. Um heck I don't know put some trusted people on them. Make sure that there aren't any here that might have sneaked in under our noses," I said as I walked toward my room. Katrina had long since left. She wasn't much for business talk. Then again I wasn't either but I was the one that didn't have a choice in the matter. As I walked into my suit I noticed Katrina sitting on the couch with her face in her hands. "Hey, what's up?" I asked in a conceredn tone. I sat down beside her and she leaned over and put her head in my lap. "Is everything ok?" I asked. She turned over and looked up at me. "What is more important to you?" she asked. I was shocked at the question. A puzzled look crossed my face. "You know that I love you more than anything in existance. I would turn in my badge and quit this whole thing if I knew that it would cause me to lose you. Nothing can come between us," I said almost losing my temper. She just gazed up at me and smiled. "That is what I wanted to hear. Never forget that I like to hear that," she said. With a little yawn she turned over to her side and fell asleep. That old familiar feeling came over me. I realized that I had not been paying her much attention of late with all of the Brin crap going on. She was my wife, and I made a vow to love and protect her. It was high time that I picked those habits back up. ------------ The news hit me a few hours after I had finished an uninterupted dinner with my wife. The Dark Flame Fleet had attacked a planet in Earth Delta who refused to comply with the new "Unified Dimentional Order,(UDO)." It appears that they didn't like the whole Ne'llaf situation so they wouldn't sign the new Universal Compact which gave Brin total control over every trade route and all of the supplies of all the dimentions. So the Dark Flame fleet gave it an orbital bombardment to straighten it up. They claimed that it was a peace keeping measure. Because even one rouge dimention could mean pain to everyone. This severly pissed me off. I called an emergency meeting of the Supreme Gaurdians. Everyone had heard about the situation so I saved some time by not explaining it. "Maybe instead of worrying about the ships that will supply us and try to win whole planets," Mac said when I opened the table for suggestions. That was a nice idea. If we didn't have to worry about the security of ships coming and going we could keep our profile lower. "That sounds nice. Why don't you and Sarhedrin take care of that," I asked. They looked at each other and nodded. I excused them to go ahead and start. "Hey Mac, before you go, I need to talk with you in private sometime soon," I said. He said ok and left to get busy on those planet reports. "Ok next problem. We need to find a weakness in the Sheol's and especialy that good for nothing Lucifer. Anyone wanna volunteer?" I asked. Shandra said that she had always been good with schematics and stuff like that so she agreed to look them over and hope for the best. I gave her the name of an old friend who was really great with machines and told her to call her up. It would be good to see her again, if she was alive. "Hey, Shane," Draco said. I looked over to him and gave him the floor. "Who or what was that thing that we fought in the hall way of that dorm?" he asked. "To tell you the truth man I have no idea. I know somehow that he can control portals and pack one heck of a wallop, but I don't know anything else. He said that his name was Vyraxon or something like that. You can ask Raven for some info and try to find out some more about him if you want," I said. He agreed and hurried off. "Hey Cratin, wanna do some UC?" I asked. He let out a fake cry of disgust and fell down to the floor. When he stood back up he looked just like a Ne'llaf. "I wouldn't mind," he said in their hissing slimy voice. I told him to wait in the control room until I finished and looked over what we knew of their history and customs. He picked up and flew with his new found black leathery wings. With that out of the way Draco told me that he had something special to go do so I said ok. I had to go find Mac and break some news. I found him sitting in front of a computer screen typing with one hand and writing down numbers with the other. He was holding a comm in front of him with some levitation trick, and he had an earpiece in. I leaned over and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around, saw me, and made some quick words in a foreign language and shut off the comm. "What's up man?" he asked. "Um, I have some news to tell you," I said. I tried to sound concerned and troubled. He looked at me and seem to pick up on my situation. "What is it?" he asked. He was falling right into my trap. He didn't even see it coming. "Well ever since we moved here I have been thinking. Some about you and me, some about everyone else, and some about Espy. You know how she has to go into the academy and all?" I asked. "Yeah," he answered. I could tell that by mentioning her I had added that much more to the atmosphere. He waved his hand in the air as a guesture to tell me to go on. "Well the way I see it is since I pretty much have full reign, and there really is no academy that she can just live with you and it would all be cool," I said in a low voice. "Oh I see," he said not really letting it sink in. Then about three seconds later, "WHAT!? Serious!? Man this is great news, I can hardly wait to tell her. I can't wait to see the look on her face. Man this is so great. You're the best man--" I stopped him there. He looked like me on a sugar/chocolate high. I waved him off and he portaled out. It was cool being in charge without having to appease some Brin lackeys. ------------ "Well how's it going with everyone?" I asked the next day at our meeting. There were some good reports and bad reports. Mac had cleared up his Espy situation and was now grinning ear to ear. Sarhedrin, left alone with his project began his report. "The planet search was a huge success. Some even want us to set up recon bases on them. I told them that we would have to vote on that but that I would get back with them. I have a list of eighty three planets that said they would like to side with us," he said as he passed around a packet of information with the planet's name and a history of the people and culture. I was happy to see Earth Alpha on our side. That was a big relief. "The ones with stars beside them want a base on them. I figured that we could just put it to a quick vote tomorrow after everyone has time to review the information. Next up we have people from every one of those planets who are offering their men and women to be trained for us. So I think that we need a new academy. So I took the liberty of drawing up a plan for it and began preliminary steps to start it. I hope you don't mind," Sarhedrin said to me. I shook my head no and commented on his initiative. He sat down and it was Shandra's turn. "Upon reviewing the plans and schematics for the Sheol type war cruisers and the Lucifer," she said placing a holoprojector in the center of the table, " I am sorry to say that there are no clear out weaknesses. Each Sheol has six differant complete control rooms. And the Lucifer has 66. The only means of attack that I could find myself were simply to shoot a missile with 893 megatons of explosives right at the middle. This would take out a large portion of the propulsion systems. Then blast it until it just fell apart. That would be totally impossible if more than one Sheol was present. I contacted Qui Xux, a friend of Shane's, and she said that she would review the plans and try to come up with a feasable plan of attack," Shandra said as she sat down. Cratin stood up to brief everyone on his infiltration plan. "I get lucky enough to break into NCC and play demon for a while. This plan will go into action the next time we can capture a Ne'llaf. I will impersonate him and try to get on the inside. There I will leak info to someone sympathetic to our cause in the academy, who will also be UC. Hopefully we can get it back to you all before anything happens. If this works out we could pull some major guerilla warfare. Everyone pray for me, I will need it," he said sitting down. As soon as he sat down I got a message on my personal channel from Hogo. I followed his directions and flipped on the main broadcast monitors. From these I could see Brin flanked by Vyraxon giving an adress to the whole universe. We picked it up in mid sentence, "are now in total control of the DGF. Any planet that does not sign the Universal Compact and turn its goods over to me will be punished. Furthermore if any planet is found to be sympathetic to McInnis and his rouge bunch they will be orbitally bombared by the peacekeeping Dark Flame Fleet. Now, to you McInnis, I know you are watching. We will find you, we will crush those around you, and then, we will drag you down the cooridors of NCC until you are dead or wish you were. Your little rebellion has no hope. If you give up within the next day we will only inprison you for the rest of your miserable life. Again, woe unto any planet found on the side of the rouge Gaurdians," Brin said with a small throaty laugh. "Hey Sarhedrin, I think your list is fixing to shrink," Irvine said. I had a feeling that it was going to shrink a lot.
