Knights of Daybreak Chapter 8 By: W.Bob Yankovic Looks like all of the Supreme Gaurdians are in some deep water. In this fic you get to meet the Ne'llaf up close and personal. You might even be able to pick out one special Ne'llaf in particular. Sit back and enjoy. Two days after the story that shocked the universe, I was in a haze. We had to go to our second plan which was not expected to happen. Everyone was gathering supplies and trying to gain allies in the hopes of gaining enough people to effectively strike back. It was now certain though. The DGF would be devided. After a whole day of deliberating over the issue the Supreme Gaurdians had taken a vote. Everyone agreed that it was the only feasable way to keep ourselves safe. In the two days Brin had been busy too. He had gained massive support in the Leauge of Dimensions. They had stopped all other business to consider his bill to remove our power and appoint himself as a "temporary" leader. He had also formally introduced members of a diplomatic group from a new dimention. This dimention was strange. It was not parallel enough to any dimention to be named like Earth, or something like that. It was also not qualified in Alpha, Beta, or even Delta, dimention types. It was just a dimention that seemed to tie into every other one. It was simply given the name Omega dimension. The Ne'llaf came in with gifts and promises of new fortune to the DGF and everyone tied to NCC. They swore that they were a peace loving people and that their weapons were not to be used for war, but for defense. They gave a public pardon to us for blowing up their ships. They seemed too nice and clean for my liking. As I shuffled through a list of habitable planets in all the dimentions known, Sarhedrin came in with a status report. I had taken him off of Brin-sitting duty and asked him to start trying to get a round about estimate on how much money that we could have any claim too when we left. "Looks really good," he said with a smile. "With those passwords you gave me I found a lot of money that was just sitting there. I just transfered it to an account for some unknown rich guy that I made. We should have about 22 trillion credits now. That is just in out personal accounts. With all of our annuities and stock you could probably triple that amount. I could easily say 68 to 70 trill. That should last us a nice long time," He said. "Yeah I guess. Did you see Shandra anywhere when you came in?" I asked him. He scratched his head and thought. "I think that I saw her and your wife hanging out with Mac's girl. Why did you need her for something?" He said as he stood to go get her. "Nahh, she is where she needs to be. But if you see Irvine or Cratin tell them I would like an update. And see how Mac is doing with our fleet," I said. Sarhedrin nodded and walked out. I wrote down the 70 trillion credits to the list I had. I mumbled some math to myself and figured that if we had about a hundred thousand people we could feed them for about two years with a hefty chunk left over for ships ammo and other supplies. I scribbled little equations and addition problems down for a few minutes until my comm rang and almost scared the crap out of me. It was Cratin checking in with his report. "As far as I can tell we can get enough out of the merchants that are on our side to live off of. It would really help to see how many ships that Mac can wrangle so we could see if we have any spare to use for cargo. But it looks all clear from here. Confirmed we have five food, three ammo/weapons, three technology, and two odds and ends merchants on our side. We have about half that many that told me they would consider our offer and might come over later. Hey here comes Mac let me put him on for you," Cratin said as he finished. "Hey," Mac said from the other end. He said something to Cratin and had a few seconds of conversation before he came back. "You want a report huh? Yeah ok it looks like we have a decent sized fleet. Thanks to Leia Organa Solo we have the full backing of the New Republic fleet. All of the subsiquent Star Wars dimentions have also alligned themselves with us. They were the biggest part in our puzzle because they have more ships than anyone else. We managed to swing Capsule Corp over to our side so that was a help. It looks like only major sized naval fleets that didn't line up with us is Brin's little Dark Flame fleet and some of the stronger Imperial and pirate fleets. The outlaw fleets are of course still up in the air but then again what did you expect. So if everyone wasn't lieing to us we should have a very nice fleet," he said with a little happiness cracking through. "Good job, keep it up every ship we can get our hands on will be a help. See you later. Oh hey wait, how is Espy doing?" I asked. "She is still not to happy about the whole training thing, but I don't guess I would be either. She seems to be taking a liking to Shandra and Katrina. I guess that she came at a bad time though," he said. "Yeah I guess so," I said as I clicked off my comm. Things were forming up nicely. If things kept going right we would be out of NCC in two more days. I was sure that Brin would not let it be so easy. After I wrote down the reports I decided to go have a chat with our "diplomatic" friends from Omega dimention. I wish that I had Irvine's update before I went in. I had assigned him to digging up anything that might even be slightly related to the Ne'llaf. So far he hadn't come up with anything. It was just a little fishy that such a strange dimension had just appeared all of the sudden. I stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the 19th western tier. I had to put my ring up to a little scanner because this tier was restricted to high ranking officials. As the elevator opened a portal and slid through I wondered exactly what Brin was doing with the Ne'llaf. He had to have some alterior motive. I stepped off the elevator and walked to the central lobby of the cabin sector. They were in Blue 1784-1788. I knocked lightly on their door and excused the gaurd that was standing watch. When the door opened I was met by a pair of beady bloodshot red eyes. "Hello Supreme Gaurdian McInnis," the Ne'llaf said. I guess that they knew who I was or had seen me on the news or something cause I had never seen this particular one. "Hello. You will have to pardon me, I do not know your name," I said trying to fake some manners. "My name is Zythran, my companion sitting down over there is Xoniy. We are glad thankful to you for returning our captured comrads to our care. We assure you that we had no idea who you were when we attacked. As we have stated before we are a peaceful species," He lied through his yellow and brown teeth. I had broadcast my name and rank to the ships before we even fired a shot. They knew exactly who I was. "I am also sorry for killing your friends," I said. I also lied but I figured that it was for the best to keep these guys on our side for at least the time being. "No worries, many of the ships were unmanned and being controlled aboard the Lucifer," Xoniy said as he walked over. I shook his hand. "Would you like to come in?" he asked. "Yes please if you were not doing anything important right now," I said. They walked over to the couch and sat lightly. I resisted the urge to flop down in the chair in front of them. Instead I straightened my jacket and sat gently down on the chair. "I am guessing that you came here to get some answers," Zythran said cooly. I knew that these guys couldn't read minds but they could sure read some body language. "I would like to ask a few questions if I may. You may decline to answer any of the questions if you think that they are not viable," I said trying to butter them up. "We have nothing to hide. Ask anything that you wish. This is what I wanted to hear. "Why have you and your people just now discovered dimensional travel?" I asked. With the technology they had I was almost stunned that it had taken them as long as it did. "We have always known of it. We have simply chosen to stay isolated. We detest war and decided that if we made our presence known that we would be trapped into the act of keeping everyone else out of war," Xoniy said. "Exactly how old is your civilization?" I asked now that they had me hooked on thier story. "We have been around for the same amount of time as Earth Alpha. I believe that our species evolved a good bit of time before the humans did on Earth. In fact one of the races that used to populate a planet in our dimension made trips to Earth Alpha quite often. They used some of our advanced architecture to help the cultures. You might notice the similarity of the control structures on our Sheol type cruisers are like that of some of the cultures of Earth," Zythran said. I though to myself. Then it hit me, the pyramids. The big triangle thing looked just like a pyramid. These guys friends were dimension hopping back during the Biblical time period. "What happened to this other race?" I asked. They looked at me with their red eyes. I don't know what it was but these guys were freaky. "There were two races in our dimention. One was a group of beings known as the Netruy. The other were called the Llaftre. Over the course of thousands of years these two species intermarried and a new species was born, the Ne'llaf. The Llaftre were the species that went to your dimention, they looked much like your race. Then after the last Llaftre died and the Ne'llaf became the dominant species, we decided that Earth was not the place for us. Some Ne'llaf were stranded in your dimention when we shut the portal up for good. We lost all contact with them. We assume that they all died within around eight thousand years. This is about the life span of a Ne'llaf," he said. Their door rang again and they opened it. Brin walked in. I bit my tounge, shook his hand and left without saying a word. I was really freaked out now. These guys had the technology that the DGF had now about 4 thousand years before us. No wonder their ships were almost indestructable. I had to talk to Irvine to see if he had anything for me. I decided to walk over to his room. I got about half way there when Raven ran up to me. He was breathing hard and waving his hands and screaming for me to stop. I stopped and he ran up to me and put his hands on his knees to catch his breath. "What?" I said. He held up a hand to signal me to wait until he had finished catching his breath. "I found something," he finally said about a minute later. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small coin and placed it in my hand. I had never seen anything like it anywhere and I was fairly caught up on the monetary units of different dimentions. I just gave him a puzzled look and asked him to explain. "That was in a stash of money going to Brin's office. It was in a huge metal bin that I happened to commandeir. The whole thing was full of credit chips. That was at the bottom of the bin," he said pointing to the coin in my hand. "You ever seen anything like it?" he asked. "No and I am a little puzzled about why some weird coin is so important to you finding out who are Brin's lackeys," I said. "You don't get it do you? This coin is 100% unique, nothing is like it in the records, it is just like something else that suddenly appeared," he said. Then I caught it. Brin's money was coming from the Ne'llaf. Those lying, black skinned, beady eyed, yellow teethed, bad breathed, sob's were funding all of Brin's plans. No freaking wonder he was so rich. "Where did this shipment come from?" I asked Raven. He just smiled at me like he had found some kinda gold mine. I hoped that he had. "It came from everywhere, there were coins from every known dimention in that bin. And another thing. The money was signed by a person from Earth Alpha. So I decided to dig into this person. To my extreme surprise I found it coming from an oil rich country called Iraq. It seemed that the president of that country sent some money to a person without knowing they were in another dimention. It seemed kinda fishy so I kept looking. The money trail leads way back in Earth Alpha's history. I printed out the list that I dug up it has some names you might identify with," he said with a little laugh. "Sadam Hussein, Adolf Hitler, Napolean Bonaparte, Atilla the Hun, Ghengis Kahn, Nero, Calligula, King Ahab, Seti IV?" I looked at him like he was stupid. I thought that he was. "What did you do just compile a list of the most hated people in Earth's history?" I asked him. "No I am telling you that these people all got money or help from the same source. That source was unknown in all cases, except from the Egyptian pharoh. A scribe in his court noted that his army was supplied by the gods. And that these gods came down in circles of polished silver from above. Now what does that make you think of? UFO's right. So this proves that in Earth Alpha there is more than one sentinent species!" He said with a big smile. "No it proves that the Ne'llaf are liars! I was talking to them and they admited to visiting Earth and helping some people. Then they said that some of their people were stranded on Earth. And doesn't it make since that if these Ne'llaf were left on Earth that they would be strategically more advanced than any regular human? They would probably be more rutheless too. And it is just a big coincidence then that these list of rulers were considered more rutheless and strategic than any human. No way I am not buying this," I said. Raven looked at me like I was going crazy. Of course he didn't get what I was saying, he wasn't in there when I talked to Zythran and Xoniy. "Raven look, I will explain all of it later but for now we HAVE to leave this place, and I mean quick. Go to my hangar and prep the troop transports for departure. Tell all the SG's that it is Daybreak, they will understand. I have to go take care of something," I said as I turned and began to run down the hall. I realized that I didn't have time to run so I opened a portal. When I came out I was right in front of Katrina and Hogo who were laughing about something. "It's Daybreak, we have to go," I said. Hogo immeadiatly got up and began to throw all of our clothes and hidden weapons into a big trunk. Katrina was just sitting there with a stunned look on her face. "Sorry honey I couldn't let you in on this one. But we have to leave, and we have to leave now," I said. She got up and helped Hogo pack. I told them that I had to leave to get some stuff. I opened a new portal and stepped through. I exited in front of the Dimentional Vault. I punched in my code and the huge door hissed open. I opened a huge portal that encompased everything in the Vault and using the Force moved every article through the portal to my designated target building. The empty Vault stood open as I opened yet another portal. By the time I stepped out of this one the alarms were blaring. The Vault had a fail safe system that would track any portal opened in it and would go off as soon as it found the destination. But thanks to some of my hacking skills it would only open a portal to a huge ocean on a uninhabited planet. I sprinted to the main computer of NCC and placed my hand on the keyboard. I opened a small portal and placed my hand through it. It rested on the main computer of our new base. In about three minutes at about 3000 terrabytes a second transfer speed I had the whole NCC computer system downloaded. I pulled my hand out just in time for a ki blast to sizzle past my arm hair. I turned to see a Ne'llaf standing behind me in a fighting stance. This one was bigger than all of the others. He was a good 4 inches taller making him about seven foot tall, he was ripped with muscles everywhere. He had claws and his teeth were fangs instead of the only slightly pointed teeth of the other Ne'llaf. On his head he had small horns around the perimeter that all curved in to make sort of a crown on his head. He also had a tail with the same small horns around the very end of it. Besides that he looked really freaking evil. I caught a chill just looking at the dude. He stepped toward me and waved a finger. "You are going nowhere, McInnis," he hissed. He threw another blast at me. I reflected it with little effort. I began to open a portal and he somehow shut it before I could walk through. No one could control the opening of a portal without a majorly huge dimentional crystal. I didn't even see a ring on him. "I will tell you when you can leave," he laughed out. I was pretty pissed off and I needed to do one more thing before I could leave. "Ok, buddy I don't know who you are but I know about your species and how they played around with all of peoples of earth. So I do have one thing against you. That is usually enough for me to kill you," I said as I drew my saber. He held his arm out beside him and art of his skin on the top and bottom of his wrist slid back. A huge hooked blade of bone shot out. He did the same with the other wrist. So here I was with a lightsaber fighting a guy with three foot bone blades coming from the top and bottom of his wrists. "I am Vyraxon, and you will soon be dead!" he said as he rushed me. I casually stepped to the side of his rush, opened a portal and slipped through. I don't guess that he could fight and control portals at the same time. That was for my own good. I got to the main PA system and pressed the button that I had preprogramed for all of the DGF members that were loyal to the Supreme Gaurdians. "Daybreak is upon us. We must leave now. Take only what you can put in your duffels. Don't worry about weapons, I have plenty. Now is the time, go to the predetermined hangar and load up," I said over the PA. I hopped through a portal to my hangar and saw the first transport taking off to the new base. Raven had taken the right of telling any of the people that he saw along the way to spread the word. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all. "Hey Raven, everyone ready to go?" I asked. He gave me a hurried thumbs up and pointed over to the south enterance bay to the Supreme Gaurdians checking the ID's of the people coming through. It had been a hard job but we took the Force sensitive cadets on our side, Shandra, and myself, and scanned the minds of every single student to see if they were truly on our side or not. Then we had programmed them into a huge database and just moved all of their codes to a program. This way we could tell who was with us and who was against us. I turned to my left to see the second of ten transports take off. We had around eighty thousand people on our side. We could fit ten thousand on each transport. Mac came running up to me. "Shane we have problems. The Ne'llaf have began to attack cadets that are coming here. We can't get them on the transports fast enough, and there are Sheol crusiers coming around to the other side of NCC to blast the transports out of space. I have an idea," he said. "Do it I trust you. I will go take care of the Ne'llaf," I said as I sprinted over to the other SG's. I grabbed Draco and told him to come with me. Right before we got out I saw Mac open a huge portal and people just start running through it. Why didn't I think of that? I stopped to try to locate the Ne'llaf that were attacking us. I dragged Draco through a portal and we came out right under the blast of Zythran. "Welcome Supreme Gaurdian McInnis," He said as he shot a huge blast right at me. I flung it to the side and powered up. Draco beside me began to rip through the Ne'llaf like a hot knife through butter with a huge blast. There were so many of them. Much more than I remembered. I began to blast at single targets to give the cadets enough time to get through the portal that I opened behind me. As they stepped through I scanned their minds to make sure that they were one of us. There were only about six hundred in the wing that the Ne'llaf attacked. When the last troop stepped through I shut the portal and began to pour on the ki blasts. I heard Draco scream at the top of his lungs as he changed into his super human form, FlameShadow. I had helped him with this and he could now transform when he wanted. He began to charge up his power. "REIGNFIRE!" he shouted as his blue blast shot out. It hit one Ne'llaf right on but kept right going until it finally hit a wall and dissapated. The Ne'llaf in the path of his blast were no more. I began to charge up a blast of my own. "STAR CRUSHER!" I yelled as I hurled my huge blast at the Ne'llaf. Just as anticipated the blast phased out of sight a few feet in front of them. When it hit it easily tore through their unexpecting bodies. Then from down the hall we heard a sick scream. "BRIMSTONE!" it said. Down the hall flew a huge red flaming blast of energy. FlameShadow and I both braced to block it but we underestimated the power of the blast. It threw us both back to the wall and tore through our clothing. We fell to the ground and starred at each other. That was one strong blast. "Ok, we both shoot a blast at him and jump through a portal at the same time," I said. FlameShadow gave me a strange look. "Just do it, you know where to go." We both began to charge up our power. At the same time we blasted at Vyraxon. He reeled back when our blasts hit him and we easily made it through our portals. When we flew out of them we were on a desert planet in a deserted dimension. I waved my hand over the ground an a door opened we walked into the huge underground labyrith that was our new base. "Welcome home," I said. Daybreak was upon us. It was time for Light to once and for all crush the darkness that controlled NCC. We would see to that personally.
