Knights of Daybreak Chapter 11 By: W.Bob Yankovic Well it was appearant that the last fic kinda sucked. Ok it had very little actual use beyond introducing new moves, killing Brin, and talking to Micheal. This one will be differant. Stick with me. Under council of Pikallo I have decided to include a time lapse in this fic. It is needed with the new ending of ROD that I was unaware of. It will be cool. Just read. And as always enjoy. As Mac and I sat in my room with Katrina, Espy, Hogo and Kyusai, we deliberated over the events of the past few moments. "I just remember being on Cinnibar Island having a serious gut check about leading the Knights. Then WHOOSH I am in this big ol white room and see this guy that said he was Micheal who gave me this necklace," I said recounting my events. Mac looked at me with a very strange look. "I was doing the exact same thing. I was just in my room. I didn't know why you chose me or why I was placed in this position with so many lives at my disposal. Then the whole Micheal thing, but I got a Trinity symbol instead of a cross," Mac said. Neither one of us could come up with any explination besides the fact that God works in mysterious ways. He just seemed to work a whole lot more in our lives. Fate was having a field day. "I didn't ever lose contact with you," Hogo commented. This meant that we couldn't have had a near death experiance. It wouldn't have made any sense anyway. "I just got a wierd feeling that you got a whole lot stronger. I thought that you were in trouble somewhere. Then I couldn't find you on any scanner. It was really freaky," he continued. "I felt a surge in power at the same time also," Kyusai said to the group. She then went on to tell a story similar to Hogo's. I just told everyone to keep it in their mind but not to let it dominate their thoughts. We all stood up and turned to walk out. Katrina looked at me and gave me that "stay here I have to tell you something important" look so I waved bye to everyone. I sat back down on the couch beside her and put my arm around her. "Do you really love me more than your job?" Katrina asked me. I was shocked, but then I realized. I had been a really crappy husband of late. The last time that we had spent any quality time together was about two months prior. I placed my hands around the back of her neck and guided her gaze to my face. "I love you more than anything," I said. "This job, the money, the position, the power, all of that means nothing. I would give it up in a heartbeat if you wanted me to. I love you more than anything that this world can ever place in my path. You know that. But what is wrong. Something isn't right," I said. I could have easily read her mind to figure out what it was, but I made a promise to her on our wedding day that when I was with her, the Force wasn't. She looked up at me and a single tear ran down her cheek. "I'm pregnant, two months, we're going to have twins. A boy and a girl. I just don't want you to hate me or forget about me. I really need you now," she said. I looked at her. Then I looked again. Then everything went hazy. Twenty minutes later after I woke up I saw her crying on the couch. I had fallen off and rolled a few times. I got up and went over to her. "Katrina I love you. Don't think that was because I didn't. That was because I was hit with about ten thousand thoughts at once. You know my brain can't process that much at once. Don't ever think that I won't love you. I will always be there for you no matter what happens in my life. I will stop working if that will help the matter. Mac can take over for a while. He can run this thing. All we were planning to do anyway was just build up for a while. You actually told me this at a very good time. Unless something drastic happens I will be a whole lot less busy in the coming months. I don't think that Vyraxon will try anything after losing so many of his fighters. He will have to rebuild. Look at me I am rambling and I can't stop. I am just so happy that I can't control what I am saying. If you would just kindly---" I was cut off as my beautiful wife leaned over and kissed me. "That is all that I wanted to hear," she said. I held her in my arms and we just sat there for a good two hours. After that it was informing time. I portaled to the Comm room and pressed the all hail button. "I have a very important announcement. My lovely wife is going to have two children. And if anyone isn't exited about that he or she can take it up with me," I shouted at the top of my lungs. As I purposly walked back to my room people were coming up to me congratulating me and shaking my hand and just general happy stuff. I felt like I was walking on air. I probably was. ------------------- Later on in a meeting of the Supreme Gaurdians a serious discussion began. The debate over what to do next was the main thing on the agenda. I decided to make it easy. Each SG would have ten minutes if needed to state his or her idea. I started with Sarhedrin. "I say we need to stockpile resources. If we can just get enough ships, weapons, and foodstuff than we are going to be better off than if we just run in now," Sarhedrin said. His point was well founded but Irvine countered with his viewpoint. "We have what we need in the area of materials. The most important thing we need now is one seriously huge army to take out the hords of Fallen that we know are out there. I say that we hold off until the next two classes graduate from the Academy. That will almost triple the size of our group," Irvine said. This was a very good idea also. "But if we storm them now they will not know what hit them. We saw today that they can't fight hand to hand unless the ones we fought today were just some big bunch of lackeys that do whatever they are told. Even if they can fight back we should go now. We have all of the access codes to NCC. Shane made sure of that. If we go in with a small strike force and wipe out the leaders the rest will fall. They might be bigger and have better weapons but the seven of us have the brains," Draco said. I looked to Mac to get his say in the issue. He looked down to a stack of papers that he had brought with him. He and I had talked earlier. We had come up with a plan but I told him to introduce it. He had always been a better motivator and convincer than me. "The way I see it is that we have to be sneaky. We can't rush head on into the dark. I have a composite list of every planet in every dimention and thier status, whether allied with the Fallen or us. I say that we take it slow. Start at the tail and chew our way up to the head. Some of these dimentions only have one planet that are against us. If we can take the easy jobs first and progress it will help us in three ways. One, by taking it slow we will have plenty of time to aquire the needed supplies, ships and weapons. The dimentions that we can rid of the Fallen will be great helps in these times. Two, by going slow we will allow the new gaurdians to graduate and not be thrust directly to the front line. They will be able to work their way into their units and begin to build trust in minor missions. And three, it will let the Fallen know that we aren't going to just lay down and die so easily. The balance of power will slowly shift until the Fallen have no hope to win," Mac slowly explained. This made the previous three SG's, Cratin, and I very happy. But Shandra seemed reserved about the plan. "How can we promise the dimentions that we free protection from the Dark Flame fleet? Nothing that we have now has proven to be any kind of useful against those ships. The Lucifer can blow up a planet just as easy as it blew up those capital ships in the first battle we had with them. To tell you the truth, those ships alone might be our biggest problem. If we can't get rid of them, we can't promise protection to the sympathetic dimentions, and we will lose support if anything happens. I am not saying that we don't stand a chance, I am saying that those ships should be our first target," she explained. I had to admit. She made a lot of sense. "Ok people, we have been presented with a problem. We need a solution," I said. Everyone that had just so breifly seen a glimmer of silver on this dark cloud now seemed even more down trodden than before. "How about this. I head up a research program on the Dark Flame Fleet. I will round up all of my old buddies to help, if I can get them here alive. Mac will coordinate preliminary strikes on the more sympathetic dimentions. Nothing to big, but enough to secure some trade routes. Then when we find a weakness in the Dark Flame Fleet we will take them out. By then we should have plenty of people ready to fight. Then we simply bum rush Vyraxon and NCC and take it back. That sound good?" I asked. Under the table I crossed my fingers. I decided to put it to a vote so everyone put their hands on their voting buttons. They were designed to sense pressure. All one had to do was press gently on the side that he or she wished to vote for and it would be cast. With a few seconds of computation the holoprojecter showed a seven to nil vote to impliment the new compromised plan. With a sigh of relief I stood. "Mac is in charge of the attack. Think of him like a slimmer me with a lab coat. He won't do anything that I wouldn't do. Trust him, he knows what he is doing. If anyone wants to help me that's cool. If anyone wants to do both that is cool too. Just let someone know. I am sure that you all know that Katrina is pregnant. I am going to be spending a lot of time with her. Don't think that I have forgoten about you. I will be helping as much as I can as often as I can. God has put all of us in this situation for a reason. He will lead us out. He hasn't ever failed before," I said. I adjourned the meeting everyone left. The next few months were going to be a test for everyone. Mac called me on the comm and let me know that he was going to call a general assembly and that he thought that it would be better if I announced the plan to everyone. The assembly went well. Almost everyone agreed with the plan. It was designated Operation Second Daybreak. After the assembly I called up everyone in the Maw Installation that I had worked with to make the H-Wing and Ressonance Torpedo. I arranged secret passage for them to Camelot. I was going to pick up a few of them myself. Within a week I had over three hundred scientists going over the schematics of the Sheol Type Warships, Serpent Type Fighters, and the Lucifer. If anyone was going to find a weakness these people would. Over the span of the next three months we had successfully liberated three whole dimentions from the control of the Fallen. Vyraxon made some empty threats to them and to our surpise they stuck with us. We had scored small but significant points. One dimention alone agreed to supply all of our food for the coming times. The other two agreed to let us use some of their planets to field test some new graduates. The Knights were growing in number as well as morale. Our review of the ships was almost fruitless. They seemed invulnerable. No one even knew what the was made of. The Serpent that we captured in the first battle served as our only guide. I had people running tests on every fabric, alloy, plastic, or synthetic substance on it. I had others strip out the whole flight system and plug it into a sim and run diagnostics and flight data through it. The thing seemed to respond to even the slightest movement of the stick. It was extremely fast and seemed to think itself. We did learn that they seemed to have a link up to the Sheol's computer system. We didn't undertand why but it was interesting. I was spending alot of time with Katrina. She was getting pretty big and needed to be constantly told that she was beautiful. She began to have cravings for weird things that kept Hogo pretty busy planet hopping to find them. I fell in love all over again with her. I felt just like I did the first time that I saw her. Well not exactly because the first time I saw her she wanted to kill me. But you get the picture. We picked out names for our kids. Lucas (Luke for short) for the boy and Leiah for the girl after Luke and Leiah from my second home dimention. Katrina just happened to love the names so I didn't have to fight much. I looked forward to being a dad. Everyone picked on me and said that my kids were going to be able to kick my butt in three years, and they wondered if they would have freaky superhuman forms like thier dad, or fairy forms like thier mom. I told everyone to shove it alot. Mac and Espy began to grow closer together. Believe it or not Mac actually moved in the same room as Espy. He just put up a new bed and an extra bathroom to relieve any "uncomfortable" situations. They were perfect for each other. I figured that when all of this calmed down that I would get to preach a wedding. I was happy for them. In the fourth month of Operation Second Daybreak things began to come around alot faster. In a chocolate and caffine induced stupor late one night after having a full day of Katrina's mood swings I stumbled upon the molecular charts for the metals that made up the hulls of the Sheol's. I noticed that they seemed to be very close to the make up of the element lead. Then I began to think. Lead rusted very quickly in an area that had been saturated with pure oxygen. The process was even quicker if water was present. I punched in a few commands into my computer and found the plans for the interior of the Sheol's. I noticed that the outer hull was the only place in the whole ship that this element was found. In fact between the inner and outer hull there was a vaccum. I began to ponder. Within the next few days we had predicted that the hull of a Sheol would rust at a very advanced rate if it came in contact with a large amount of oxygen supersaturated water. All we had to do was find one and test. We ran a pop in attack with our supply ships. We popped in, doused one Sheol with our water then popped out. Within four days the sensors we had in the water noted that the hull of the Sheol was only 1/8th of its full power. We had them. This news exited everyone to a certain degree. The Lucifer's secrets still avoided us. Another month and a half went by. Mac had orchestrated a very complex but very good plan to take the remaining sympathetic dimentions in one huge swoop. The problem was getting everyone on the planets that we were trying to liberate to attack at the same time. For the next week he sat down with some of my scientists with every calender for every planet in every dimention and calculated the exact time for each to attack. He took a well deserved twenty six hour nap after he had finished it. With the help of Hogo and one of my old friends Qui Xux we began to make a plan to take down the Lucifer. After running the flight data over about thirty times Qui noticed something. "The shields flash a split second before the main gun fires. It must be to the massive amounts of energy that it takes to shoot the blasted thing. If we could target a strike in that split second we might be able to put a scratch on it," she said. That plan grew until we had it all laid out. We would load the Serpent that we had captured with a huge amount of explosives and resonance torpedoes and anything else that we could find that would explode and fly it remotely from Hogo. When we noticed the Lucifer prepairing to fire we would fly the Serpent into the barrel of the gun when the shields flashed. Then when they fired the gun, KABOOM, hopefully. It was a long shot but it was the best thing that we had to go with at this moment. After stripping down the shield generator for the Serpent we noticed that we could reconfigure a few circuts and wires in our existing generators to boost their power almost 300% without using a single volt more. This was a big help with our cargo supply ships. We could beef up their shields and using the same ideas give them some decent armaments. After I played with one I had a new ship that could carry three fighters, and give a Star Destroyer fits. But no one expected our convoys of supply ships to be so heavily armed. This was to our advantage. We decided to send a convoy of ships to each planet that we were trying to win over. They would go in first and transmit the times for attack to the people on the ground that were on our side. If they encountered any enemy ships they would deploy their fighters and take them out. If they needed backup they would call for a flight group that would be waiting with the coordinates already locked into thier computer's portal system. If the rebels on the ground needed help we would send the cargo ships into the atmosphere to give arial support. Also we sould portal in a troop transport or two to give extra men for the fight. If anyone ran into the Dark Flame Fleet everything would take a different route. We had amassed thirty fuel supply ships that we had converted to carry our special water mixture. They would be accompanied by the biggest and most diverse array of ships ever seen. It was designated Overkill flight group. It was compiled of more that three hundred capital ships from just about every dimention that had space battle capabilities. I won't bore you with all the numbers. Just take my word. The group was huge. This group was to fly cover for our water tankers while they doused the Sheol's. As soon as that act had been accomplished everyone would leave. Four days later we would attack again without warning and wipe the Sheol's out. In any of these times we saw the Lucifer we would proceed with our plan to get rid of it. Meanwhile the Supreme Gaurdians and I would break into NCC using the codes that I hacked. We would take out any opposition until we found Vyraxon. Then we would get rid of him. If you ask me we had the harder job. I had only fought him twice before, but I knew that he was helluva strong. It would be a task that I would not be looking forward to. Mac and I decided that it was time to notify everyone of our plan. I called a general assembly of all Knights of Daybreak. I stood on the podium and looked out at all of the people that were seated in the Grand Hall. In the past seven months we had tripled in size. It kinda surprised me to see that many people in one place. I delivered my message loud and clear and ended with these thoughts. "Once we didn't have to fear all the evil. Once we didn't have to sneak around behind the backs of the Fallen to survive. I am personally tierd of it. I say we take the fight to them. We can do this. Our plan is a good plan. And one more thing. We have God on our side. He won't let these leathery beady eyed, black skinned, long tailed, annerexic, excuses for a demon continue the tyranny in which they now revel in. The days is ours. We just have to take it!" I said throwing my fist in the air. Everyone jumped up and screamed. This is what I lived for. It was time to join the battle. I looked behind me at the other six supreme gaurdians, our two trees and my wife. Katrina looked kinda funny and gave me a little wave. I walked over and leaned down to hear her over the yells of the people behind me. "It's time," she said. I looked at her. "I know that is what I just said," I said with a little smile on my face. "NO, IT'S TIME!" she said as she pointed to her stomach. The last thing I remember is Hogo catching me before I passed out. Why does God choose things to happen at weird times? I really didn't know. But He had done it again.
